Roles and Responsibilities: What does a Field Supervisor do?
As experienced education professionals, Field Supervisors foster reflective professional growth in Intern teachers. We feel this is best accomplished by an Intern to Field Supervisor ratio of no more than 15 to 1.
Additional responsibilities include:
- 3 years of experience in a department or campus leadership role using Capturing Kids’ Hearts training (preferred).
- Provide ongoing support throughout the certification process. This includes being available by phone, email or text and responding promptly to candidates’ needs.
- Conduct a minimum of 5 in-class, 45-minute observations and a minimum of 6 informal coaching sessions on the TEA required schedule.
- Collaborate with campus administration, campus mentors, and other Field Supervisors to nurture and grow first year teachers.
- Abide by the educator code of ethics, and have a heart for new teachers by nurturing them to success using CKH and research based instructional strategies.
